History
Dee’s House of Hope is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing transitional housing, counseling and support services to victims of domestic violence in Maryland’s south county and surrounding areas within the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) regions. The organization was founded by Dr. DeeDee Freeman in response to the overwhelming prevalence of domestic violence and displacement in the Southern Maryland region, and the disproportionate amount of housing programs for domestic violence victims.

Dee’s House of Hope is dedicated to building a community unified in peace and justice where all women are freed from the generational cycle of domestic violence and fear of abuse. Our programs and services include individual counseling; support groups; legal services; emergency and transitional shelter; vocational training; and, upon opening, a 24-hour hotline that provides confidential crisis counseling and referrals 7 days per week.

Mission
Dee’s House of Hope is committed to recognizing and responding to our community’s need for comprehensive domestic violence services for women and children. Believing that Dee’s House of Hope is a catalyst in transforming the lives of our residents and their children, we provide a safe haven for victims of abuse to receive transitional housing services, emotional support, and a diversified continuum of services focused on safety, empowerment, and self-sufficiency. Our goal is to help each resident live in the most independent setting possible to instill a sense of self-sufficiency and ensure they are receiving the specific services they need to restore their lives.
